On June 21, 1943, a group of professional artists in Logan, UT created the Logan Artists Group. By combining efforts the artists aimed to avoid public misconceptions concerning art, especially modern art. This joint effort also allowed the artists increased opportunities to exhibit their art at a variety of statewide venues. Calvin Fletcher (1897-1866) was a state senator, lawyer, businessman, and farmer. He was elected prosecuting attorney for the Marion County Circuit Court in 1821, and served as state senator from 1825-1833. Fletcher was appointed director of the State Bank in 1834 and later organized the Indianapolis Branch Banking Co., also known as the Fletcher and Sharpe Bank.
